PRISTINE Paper Sustainability Journey
From starting small in 2021, to our overall goal of Net Zero by 2050, we’re here to take you on our journey to a cleaner future through the steps PRISTINE took to reduce their impact on the environment.

Initially, in 2021, PRISTINE began their journey with 79% of products being made in the UK, meaning only 21% of their goods were imported from overseas. This was a great position to be in, with minimal outsourcing, internalising harmful transportation impacts. However by the end 2023, 100% of PRISTINE’s paper products were made in the UK, using only fully recycled UK office paper, . This was a fantastic achievement.
Another key event was FSC certification for all PRISTINE products gained in 2021 – FSC® helps take care of forests, the people and wildlife; Home Page | Forest Stewardship Council UK (fsc.org). Two years later, all products AND packaging components were FSC certified, making PRISTINE a more sustainable producer with a cleaner production supply chain. The manufacturers began using recyclable materials for labels, cartons, wraps and cores, with all plastic packaging components containing at least 30% recycled content.
During the summer of 2022, there were key improvements in palletisation. This meant that the quantity of rolls in a case increased from 36 to 48, which led to a 7% decrease in plastic usage on a pro rata basis.
At the beginning of 2024, PRISTINE changed their packaging to single-colour print, on brown cardboard to reduce upstream energy consumption and allow easier recycling to take place. Not long after this change, in February 2024, PRISTINE removed all plastic-based packaging tape and replaced this with kraft tape – a biodegradable alternative with durable properties, suitable for protecting contents during transit.
Overall, in just 4 years, PRISTINE’s steps towards a cleaner future and a greener production line has gone far. With huge improvements in such little time, the horizon is looking hopeful, so why not join us on the road to Net Zero?
