Recycled Materials
By using more recycled materials in our products, we can reduce the overall consumption of new resources. When we choose to use recycled materials, we never compromise on the quality and durability of our products, because doing so would reduce the overall product lifecycle and increase the need to manufacture new products. Our recycled materials have a wear resistance on a par with products made from non-recycled materials with the added benefit of reducing waste and minimizing the need for new materials. Due to these recycled materials being hardwearing it also means they last longer making them more sustainable and they provide more value for money.
Recycled Polyester and Polyamide
At the beginning of 2023, we made a conscious decision – as one of the first in the industry – to phase out the use of virgin polyester and polyamide in our manufacturing process. By the end of 2025, we expect to have completed the phase-in of recycled polyester and polyamide in our finished products. The transition to recycled polyester and polyamide will take place as we purchase new fabrics, because it is most sustainable to use already produced and purchased materials first.
MASCOT’s PFAS-free Finish (C0)
When using chemicals to produce workwear and surface treatment, MASCOT aims to minimise the associated risks to the environment and human health by making each garment more recyclable. All MASCOT products are POP and REACH compliant.
From as early as the beginning of 2022, MASCOT took the lead in the industry by initiating the development of a completely fluorine-free surface finish for workwear. This means we have developed and implemented a water-repellent impregnation (called C0), which is 100% free from PFAS substances and which complies with the REACH regulations and OEKO-TEX certification. MASCOT’s PFAS-free finish (C0) is water repellent, dirt repellent and water based, with the same level of durability as perfluorohexane (C6).
